Standardized Field Sobriety Tests - Instructor Course
The SFST Instructor Course is a comprehensive instructor course. This five-day course is designed to impart the student-instructor with the knowledge and skills for instructing the SFST Course. The 40 hours of classroom training include, but are not limited to, the following subjects: Concepts of Adult Learning and Teaching Standardzied Field Sobriety Testing Curriculum Drugs That Impair Driving Curriculum Teaching Techniques Basic Public Speaking Effective Classroom Presentations Managing a Live Alcohol Workshop Student Instructor Presentations Dates and Attendance: Course Dates: Monday, December 10, 2018 through Friday, December 14, 2018 Start Date: Monday, December 4, 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm Remaining trainining dates (Tuesday through Friday) from 8:30 to 5:30 pm Registering for the date listed will enroll you for the full five day course. Lodging is provided for those traveling more than 50 miles between days of the course. Course Dates: Monday, March 11, 2018 through Friday, March 15 , 2018 Start Date: Monday, March 11, 1:30 pm to 9:30 pm Remaining trainining dates (Tuesday through Friday) from 8:30 to 5:30 pm Registering for the date listed will enroll you for the full five day course. Lodging is provided for those traveling more than 50 miles between days of the course. Qualifications Students should be selected from your agency who are specifically assigned to combating the impaired driver. Students are required to have previous training in SFSTs consistent with NHTSA standards. Additionally, students should possess an active interest in instructing other officers in becoming proficient in the application of SFSTs. Students must have completed the Basic Standardized Field Sobriety Course prior to be able to attend the instructor course. A proficiency perfomance exam will be administered on Monday of the course.
